Kingsley’s turning 3 next year, and for a while I’ve been doing fewer trips and events unless he’s coming, taking on fewer things outside the house, trying to stay home as much as I can.

Work hasn’t slowed down though…

Before him, I didn’t really have a lot of guilt about where my time went. I was just like, that’s what I’m doing today, that’s where I’m going, that’s what my week looks like. No real major second thoughts about the time invested or the time away.

Now I give that a lot more thought and lately there’s been more to fit around it:

  • A brand new community launched with two friends supporting major brands and advertisers

  • New events coming together that we haven’t done before in new countries fast

  • Content that now needs to drive leads, alongside educating people on services

So I’m back in a season of change, and what’s helping is that my support team can take ownership of more than they could before. We’ve spent a lot of time getting them up to speed, and I’m seeing that work pay off now.

Then there’s the sponsor side. The contracts, the deliverables, everything that needs to happen with those partnerships..my team owns that stuff because I literally can’t spend brain power on all of it.

It sounds pretty straightforward when I write it out, but getting to that point took time.

And that’s all I wanted, really. To keep doing as much as humanly possible, but with a team that lets me do it without having to spend extra thought on every piece just to keep a project moving.

There are MORE things happening, but we’re getting into a workflow faster than we ever have before.

Patience is still something I’m working on though.

Cause you can have people taking things off your plate and still finish the day with a bunch of intense conversations in your head or things that aren’t going right..and you can’t bring all of that into the family unit.

Something I learned was called temperature leadership.

If a room is hot when you walk into it, it’s your job to lower the temperature, turn it down a little.

But if the room is already comfortable? Don’t come in and make it too hot or too cold. Everybody else was fine before you walked in, and you have to be mindful of what you’re bringing with you.

That’s been really top of mind for me with my family. If things are already heated, I need to have the patience to help calm them down. If everyone’s comfortable, I can’t let a difficult day at work change that for them.

(Still working on that one, honestly. Definitely not as straightforward as it sounds)

So that’s where I’m at this season..more things happening, a team that can own more of the work, and me trying to keep doing what I want to do while being home as much as I can.

If you’re in a season of change right now, hit reply and tell me what you’re carrying.

P.S… We picked a winner for the giveaway I mentioned last week.

Thank you to everyone who joined over the last week to be a part of this.. and if you were picked, then you should have gotten an email from me.

Otherwise…

See you next week.
